The present study aims to investigate the sustainability of insect pollination services under the influence of climate change and human activities in the unique high-altitude agroecosystem of the Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh. Insect pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and moths, are vital for crop pollination and ecosystem sustainability. However, their populations are in decline due to environmental changes and anthropogenic pressures. Ladakh’s delicate ecosystem is highly vulnerable, where even small disturbances can substantially impact pollinator diversity, with subsequent effects on food production. To address these issues, a systematic survey will be conducted using insect traps, nets, and visual observations to identify and document insect pollinator species and their distribution across various habitats in Ladakh. The study will also assess the effects of climate change and human activities on pollinator populations. Based on the findings, conservation plans will prioritize habitat protection, pollinator-friendly farming practices, and active community involvement to promote a resilient agroecosystem. This research will generate essential data on insect pollinator diversity and their responses to climate change and anthropogenic disturbances, providing a framework for effective conservation strategies. These strategies and policies aim to promote sustainable agricultural practices in the region, thereby improving food security. Furthermore, increasing awareness among local communities will encourage their participation in conservation initiatives, ensuring the long-term survival of insect pollinators and the vital ecosystem services they provide.
