DBT Call for Proposal for Setting up of Image Informatic Centres

The Department of Biotechnology is proposing the Establishment of IMAGE INFORMATIC CENTERS’ for the purpose to collect, store, and retrieve diagnostic images and associated clinical data. This initiative calls for innovative proposals to create Imaging Biobanks that focus on curating high-quality, annotated image databases. This dataset serves as the cornerstone for building powerful AI algorithms. Projects that combine diverse clinical expertise to improve image metadata and develop sophisticated AI tools for image analysis will be prioritized. Specifically, proposals focused on creating a detailed dataset of images showing healthy and diseased states, annotated comprehensively by clinical experts, will be favored over those merely collecting images and devising AI algorithms for their analysis. Successful proposals will demonstrate a clear plan to advance biomedical research, enhance disease diagnosis and treatment, and leverage the power of imaging and AI

DST's New Call for Setting up Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories in Quantum Technologies

Department of Science & Technology is implementing the National Quantum Mission approved by the Union Cabinet. Under the Mission, DST has established four Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) on key research areas viz., Quantum Computing at IISc Bengaluru, Quantum Communication at IIT Madras in association with C-DoT, New Delhi, Quantum Sensing & Metrology at IIT Bombay, and Quantum Materials & Devices at IIT Delhi. These four T-Hubs comprise of 14 Technical Groups having 17 Project teams involving 152 researchers from 43 institutes across India. The T-Hubs aim to drive Technology Development, Human Resource Development, Entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem development, and enhance International Collaboration. To expedite the Human Resource Development under the four T-Hubs, by Quantum Technologies, it's imperative to focus on capacity building, targeting a diverse range of individuals including students, undergraduates, postgraduates, doctoral candidates, post-doctoral researchers, as well as skilled and semi-skilled manpower. Additionally, National Quantum Mission (NQM), in collaboration with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has launched an Undergraduate Minor Course in Quantum Technologies in December 2024, which is being adopted by a growing number of institutions across the country. In line with this effort, NQM now invites proposals from eligible institutions for the establishment of Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories in Quantum Technologies under the four T-Hubs to strengthen hands-on education and experiential learning in quantum technologies for engineering undergraduates across India.

DBT Call for Proposal In Quantum Biotechnology for Team Building, Netwroks & Clusters Development

Encouraged by ‘National Quantum Mission’, the Department of Biotechnology is announcing this Call for Proposal in order to develop the quantum based R&D ecosystem for understanding the biotechnological phenomenon at atomic level and application of its outcome for Industrial processes such as biomolecular engineering, developing detection and diagnostic tools, resolving synthetic biology challenges and product development such as precise biosensors and imaging technologies etc. as well as supporting the start up ecosystem. This Call is open to Indian Scientists/Faculties including Computer Scientists, Engineers, Clinicians either alone or as a team involving the Industrial partner(s).

DBT-BIRAC Joint Call for Proposals on ‘Futuristic Marine Research’ for Fostering High Performance Biomanufacturing under BioE3 Policy

Marine environments provide a plethora of ecosystem services besides being home to a variety of biological resources. Various bacteria, fungi and micro-and macro-algae with proven proven bioprospecting potential have been isolated from marine waters for many years. Marine/aquatic systems are also an abundant source of biomass which feeds into several downstream industries such as food additives, biostimulants, biomaterials, etc. The rapid growth of Blue Economy has positioned it as a cornerstone for sustainable developments. India is a fortunate nation with a coastline of 11,098 km and an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 2.1 million sq. km. However our share of global seaweed production is currently low and there exists significant untapped potential. Hence, DBT and BIRAC envision developing a biomanufacturing ecosystem based on futuristic marine research to tap the oceanic resources and oceanic space for meeting the growing needs of food, energy, chemicals,materials and helping to reduce our continuous dependency on resources. In view of this, DBT and BIRAC  invite proposals on ‘Futuristic Marine Research' under the BioE3 policy under following 2 categories: (i) Discovery & Application-oriented Integrated Network Research (ii) Bridging the Gap for scale up

India-Taiwan Programme Of Cooperation In S & T Call For Joint Research Project Proposals

Pursuant to the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) between the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in New Delhi and the India -Taipei Association (ITA) in Taipei on Scientific & Technological cooperation in April 2007, the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST) of Taiwan, as nodal agencies to implement the programme of cooperation between India and Taiwan, invites joint research proposals for support under Indo-Taiwan S&T cooperation programme.

ICMR Short Term and Long Term overseas visit fellowship

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)- Department of Health Research has anounced the call for proposal for Short -Term and Long-Term Fellowship Abroad. Short-term fellowship abroad is to avail specialized training to excel in a niche area of interest for a period of 15 days to 3 months in the field of biomedical research and technology and strengthen the capacity of regular Indian faculty/researcher. Long-Term Training (6 to 12 Months) Fellowships at Foreign Institutions for persons employed as regular faculty having at least three years of experience in the college/institute as a regular employee, not above the age of 45 years.

DST Call for Proposal under Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) Program

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) initiated a technology development program named “Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT)” in 2015. The scope of R & D efforts envisaged under the AMT program encompass the following: •Design and process innovations to overcome the limitations in conventional manufacturing technologies. •Indigenous development of machines, apparatus, devices, instruments, tools, etc. •Improvements in materials processing strategies for better properties and commercial scale production. •Enhancement of productivity and better utilization of resources through ICT. •“Industry 4.0” enablers such as additive manufacturing, near net shape manufacturing, assistive robotics and process automation, industrial IoT implementation, AI/ML aided smart manufacturing, etc.

DBT-BIRAC Joint Call for Proposal on “Biomanufacturing of Bio-Based Chemicals, Biopolymers and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in Production Strains”

Currently, the majority of the chemicals, polymers, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are manufactured by the chemical and pharma industry using fossil fuels and petrochemicals as feedstock. Existing production processes are Green House Gas (GHG) emission intensive. With increasing population the demand for fossil-fuel based chemicals, polymers and APIs is projected to grow exponentially, leading to further rise in GHG emissions. To significantly reduce carbon emission, India needs to change the ways in which chemicals, polymers and APIs are being produced in the country. With advancement in biotechnology, particularly in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, India is poised to decarbonise the chemical and pharma industry by transitioning to less carbon-2 intensive biomanufacturing of chemicals, polymers, and APIs using sustainable biobased feedstocks.

DST invited proposal under Waste Management Technologies Program

Waste Management Technologies program is aligned to the “Swachh Bharat Mission” or “Clean India Mission” of the Government. DST initiated a special program on Waste Management Technologies WMT in October 2015, and constituted a high level Expert Advisory Committee EAC-WMT. Waste Management encompass a variety of interventions in the generation, prevention, characterization, monitoring, treatment, handling, reuse and ultimate residual disposal of solid wastes. Main Objectives of the program includes Take stock of technological development, assess, analyse and look for material recycling systems with low environment loading and improve upon them or find better alternatives Develop waste management technologies that can be adopted in small medium scale enterprises in order to improve their productivity and global competitiveness and Establish techno-economic feasibility of proposed methodologies/ technologies. The program aims to promote the development of suitable technologies with potential to ameliorate the environmental load from the huge amount of residuals generated by industrial development and consumption lifestyle. The focus is mainly on four areas a Electronic Waste, b Hospital Waste, c Plastic Waste, and d Solid Waste from Mining, Metallurgical Ceramic Industries. Technology Development Projects will be undertaken by RD agencies, in association with industry, to develop pre-competitive technologies/ techniques/ processes. The selection of projects is based on the criteria of novelty scientific uniqueness, thereby DST aims to promote innovative technologies that can have commercial potential.
