This U.S.-India Climate Fellowship Program was launched in Sept. 2014 to build long-term capacity to address climate change related issues in both countries. It is administered by United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) on behalf of both the governments. The fellowships are for 6 to 9 months. Ph.D. students will conduct research essential to their dissertations or thesis.Fellowship amount: This scheme provides J-1 visa support, round-trip economy class air travel between India and U.S., a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance.
Eligibility Criteria
These fellowships are designed for Indian scholars registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution and having conducted adequate research in the relevant field. These fellowships are for pre-doctoral level research, applicants at the final stage of Ph.D. or with Ph.D. degrees will not be considered. The selected candidate will have affiliation with one U.S. host institution.
