Scholarship of Top Class Education For SC students

About

The objective of the Scheme is to promote quality education amongst SC students, by providing full financial support for pursuing studies beyond 12th class in notified institutions of excellence spread all over the country (such as IIMs, IITs, NITs, reputed medical/law and other institutions, commercial pilot training institutions etc.). A total of 1250 scholarships are to be granted every year. The courses of study covered are Engineering, Medicine/Dentistry, Law, Management and other Specialized Streams. The scholarship, once awarded, would continue till the completion of the course, subject to the satisfactory performance.

Eligibility: The SC students who secure admission in the notified institutions, according to the norms prescribed by the respective institutions, are eligible for the scholarship under the scheme to the extent of the number of scholarships allocated to the institutions concerned. The annual family income ceiling from all sources for eligibility under the Scheme is Rs. 4.5 Lakh. The scholarship is merit based and the top ones in each institutions (subject to their eligibility) to get.

Fellowship Amount: Full tuition fee and other non-refundable charges (up to Rs. 2 Lakh per annum per student towards fee in the private institutions and Rs. 3.72 Lakh per annum per student in private commercial pilot training institutions) are covered. Living expenses up to Rs. 2220/- per month per student and Books and stationery grant up to Rs. 3000/- per annum per student are also provided. In addition, up to Rs. 45,000/- per awardee is given as a one-time grant for the purchase of computer with accessories.

Eligibility Criteria

1. SC students with a total annual family income of up to Rs. 8.00 lakh and admission to a full-time prescribed course at a notified institution will be eligible for scholarships under the Scheme, up to the number of slots allocated by the institution for the course. 2. Fresh scholarship will be awarded only to 1st year students. Students of 2nd/3rd/4th year will not be eligible for selection for fresh scholarship. 3. Thirty percent (30%) of slots allotted to the Institution shall be reserved for eligible SC girl students as per their inter-se merit.
