Scholarships for Women

These fellowships have been instituted for foreign scholars from developing countries who wish to pursue research in newly emerging areas in biotechnology for which facilities are available in the Laboratories/ Institutes in India. Around 25 Post Doctoral Fellowships are given.

Eligibility: The minimum qualification required is a Ph.D. degree in Biosciences or Biotechnology. The candidate should be a regular employee in a developing country and should be holding a research assignment. The age limit is 45 years.

Fellowship amount: The fellowship includes monthly stipend plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Medical Allowance as per Host Institute norms. An annual Contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- is also provided. The cost of international travel by shortest route will be met by TWAS. The duration of fellowship is for 12-18 months.

1. Applicants must be the nationals of a developing country (other than India). 2. Applicants must hold a Master's or equivalent degree in science or engineering. 3. For SANDWICH Fellowships, be registered PhD students in their home country and provide the "Registration and No Objection Certificate" from the HOME university (sample is included in the application form); OR For FULL-TIME Fellowships; be willing to register at a university in India.
