In this project, we aim to build robust FL algorithms with low communication overhead and fast convergence behaviour in the presence of Byzantine IoT devices. We also plan to evaluate the performance of our proposed solutions on a wireless MEC-IoT testbed built by us and on industry-provided real-world IoT datasets. The state-of-the-art robust FL solutions are not suited for deployment in an unreliable wireless IoT environment. The proposed solutions are expected to outperform the existing robust FL mechanism in terms of communication overhead and convergence speed, thus making these algorithms more suited for defending Byzantine attacks in IoT networks.
