Chronic-kidney-disease affects about 700 million people globally, and is the 3rd fastest
growing cause of death, with India alone contributing to 10% of cases. The asymptomatic
nature of the disease and challenges in healthcare accessibility, delays disease diagnosis
resulting in kidney failure, ultimately necessitating renal transplantation. While early
diagnosis improves kidney health, the existing methods are invasive, costly, demand
laboratory intensive pre-processing & analysis, and are subsequently not accessible to
significant fraction of the society. This highlights the need for point-of-care diagnostic
solutions. Hence, we propose the development of economic, IoT enabled sensor device
for early and non-invasive diagnosis of CKD.
The project envisions to improve and validate the performance of as developed low-cost
sensor device (TRL-5) towards the estimation of salivary urea, sodium, potassium, and
urinary Albumin-Creatinine-Ratio.
