The project explores the feasibility of utilizing FSWed AA5052 alloy for marine applications, assessing wear from suspended sand-silt and corrosion due to high salinity. It investigates the impact of these factors on weld parameters and evaluates the potential of reinforcing the weld zone with ceramics. AdditioNolly, a portable FSW setup for in-situ marine use has been designed and patented.
