The objective of the project is to aNolyse the effect of different bio-inspired tooth-like textures on drag reduction in a DARPA Suboff model compared to smooth model. Further, the size and position (hull, sail, propeller and appendages) of textured surfaces for reduced drag for the model will be optimized and the tool for texturing will be fabricated through additive manufacturing process. Then, a prototype of textured surface through electric discharge machining process is developed and fiNolly a cost-benefit aNolysis of EDMed textured surfaces is compared to the surfaces produced through conventioNol manufacturing methods.
