Person re-identification (ReID) is described as “to identify it (the person) as the same particular as one encountered on a previous occasion”. Combining Person-ReID with other branches of computer vision, such as face recognition, pose determination and activity recognition, aids in the development of smart homes and cities. The primary bottleneck in developing robust Person-ReID models arises from intra-class variations, i.e. the significant appearance change of the same person across different scenes and camera views.
