The initial phase of the project involved a survey-based study to better understand the challenges faced by farming communities in Punjab. Results of the survey have lead to three technology development projects: (i) Trichoderma-based biopesticide as an alternative to chemical pesticides to reduce excessive use of chemical pesticides in the state, (ii) Field-deployable biosensor to enable early detection of fungal diseases in crops, and (iii) Understanding the soil fungal microbiome to increase soil carbon content.
