The current malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs), targeting proteins like LDH, HRP2, Aldolase, and GluDH, have limitations in sensitivity and accuracy. With only two-thirds of reported malaria cases receiving confirmatory tests, there is a critical need for new RDTs. These new tests could utilize novel uncharacterized proteins from the malaria parasite or infected RBCs, offering improved sensitivity, accuracy, robustness, and affordability.
