The system analyses ambient air which is sampled through a cyclone separator (CS) with the help of a vacuum pump. The vacuum pump has a flow rate of 13 lpm (litres per minute) collects the PM2.5 from the ambient environment, and it is coupled with the Cyclone Separator. The cutoff diameter for CS had been set at 2.5 μm i.e., particles smaller than 2.5 μm pass through the outlet towards the sampling media, and bigger particles are pushed back towards the walls of the CS. Therefore, PM2.5 in the air is deposited on the sampling media, which is subsequently imaged by the Bright Field Microscopy (BFM) unit, and analysed using custom-developed image processing algorithm.
