• Development of a software platform called 'Smart-EV-Logistics' that will enable logistics service providers having heterogeneous vehicle fleets, to provide reliable on-time door-to-door delivery of enterprise shipments. Taking on-demand customer requests as input, the tool will provide smart solutions in two broad dimensions - one for the customers and the other for the logistics company.
• The tool will provide the estimated cost for shipment and time of delivery/pick-up to the customers and deliver a detailed plan concerning shipment to vehicle and/or warehouse allocation, driver-to-vehicle mapping, vehicle route planning, and charge scheduling, etc., such that operator revenues are optimized while adhering to carbon-footprint caps.
This tool will take care of a mix of traditional and electric vehicles. A necessary analysis will be performed to understand the impact of traditional and electric vehicles on the supply chain management process.
• Design of new exact, heuristic, meta-heuristic, and deep reinforcement learning algorithms for heterogeneous vehicle fleet routing and scheduling, estimating EV fleet size, recharge station, warehouse placement, etc.
• Through the technologies and the software product developed as part of this project, we would like to initiate a start-up called 'Smart-EV-Logistics'.
