Zeolite-A Powder is an eco-friendly substitute of commonly used phosphate builders in detergent industry – Sodium Tri-Polyphosphate (STPP), which has become an environmental hazard. The technology for the manufacture of Zeolite-A from Sodium Aluminate Liquor available in aluminium manufacturing industry, has been developed by Central Salt & Marine Chemical Research Institute, Bhavnagar.
The Corporation has licensed the technology to M/s National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) who has set up a 10,000 tonnes per annum capacity plant at an estimated project cost of Rs.25 crores at Damanjodi. The plant is proposed to provide the need of the detergent industry not only in India but also in the South East Asian countries and thus will remove the environmental hazards arising out of using the common detergents.
