About

Heat pipes are used widely in spacecraft thermal managment system. But, conventaional metallic rigid heat pipe have limitations and pose operational difficulties like transporation and installation in spacecraft. To overcome this, the project envisaged to develop a Full - length Flexible Heat Pipe (FFHP) with ammonina as working fluid for operating teamerature range 233 K to 333 K for space applications. The project also aims to fabricate the wick strucuture using additive manufacturing for flexible heat pipes.

Benefits

The project being undertaken by ISRO in collaboration with academia is directly or indirectly beneficial to the society.
