IN289147: An improved process for the reduction of chromatic ore at low temperatures

The invention relates to a process for the reduction of chromite ores at low temperatures by using furnace. This invention will be useful for reducing chromite ores at temperatures lower than that conventionally used for reducing the ores. The rate of reduction has been enhanced by using a flowing stream of argon at appropriate flow rate, thereby removing the gaseous phase of the product from the reaction by the addition of iron powder as a catalyst.
