IN309251: A novel fluidized bed reactor for treatment of waste water
Abstract
The unit operations used in the conventional methods for the treatment of wastewater comprise of screening, equalization tank, primary clarification, anaerobic biological system, aerobic biological system and tertiary treatment. And also, the conventional methods require large foot print and high electrical energy. Further, the treatment process generates huge volume of sludge and odor emission. To overcome the above mentioned issues a novel device of fluidized bed reactor was designed for the treatment of wastewater. This improved design facilitates the generation of very less quantity of sludge. Further, the problems of chocking of pipe line, normally envisaged in conventional technologies, are completely eliminated in the new reactor device. The act of fluidization maintains uniform mixing of carbon catalyst immobilized with microorganisms throughout the reactor volume for effective wastewater treatment. The unused compressed air is sent out to the atmosphere after being passed through odor removal column, which is lacking in the conventional technologies. The device can be applied to wastewater discharged from domestic origin and varied industries for the credible removal of organic pollutant.
