IN260387: A process for the quick estimation of bod of beverage waste water
Abstract
The invention deals with a device for quick estimation of the biochemical oxygen demand of beverage wastewater. This device consists of an immobilized microbial membrane attached to an electrode, a multimeter and a laptop workstation installed with developed software. BOD measurement of beverage wastewater using this device is rapid, reproducible and effective as compared to conventional titration-based methods. This device also excludes COD estimation as required for BOD estimation of wastewater. This bio-electrochemical device may find wide commercial applications in beverage industries emanating wastewater.
