Abstract
The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of high purity heavy basic magnesium carbonate from bittern containing magnesium. The concentration and rate of addition of soda ash solution to bittern, the composition and clarity of bittern, temperature of reaction and condition of aging are optimized to get desired higher density of magnesium carbonate.
