IN289640: An improved process for the preparation of tetrabromobisphenol-A
Abstract
The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of tetrabromobisphenol-A by reacting bisphenol-A with a novel recyclable potassium tribromide wrapped in poly(ethylene glycol) [PEG.KBr3] reagent in water at room temperature. The invention is particularly advantageous as it provides a novel approach for recycling of undesirable HBr generated during the bromination of bisphenol-A to Tetrabromobisphenol-A.
