The invention relates to a novel series 2,3- dideoxy hex-2-enopyranosid-4-uloses and their derivatives of general Formula 4, 5 and 6 also derived from 2,3- dideoxy hex-2-enopyranosides and a process for their preparation. It further relates to a novel series 2,3- dideoxy hex-2-enopyranosid-4-uloses, their derivatives showing antitubercular activity, to the process for the preparation of novel series of 2,3- dideoxy hex-2-enopyranosid-4-uloses and their derivatives of general formula 4, 5 and 6, useful as anti-tubercular agents.
