IN284657: A novel soil improving synergistic composition useful for the reclamation of degraded land/soil

The invention provides an ecological method of reclamation of saline and alkaline soils using a novel organic composition consists of tobacco dust generated from tobacco industry and Jatropha cake generated by Bio-diesel industry after oil extraction. More particularly the invention relates to a method of using the effective amount of organic composition followed by proper irrigation and turning or ploughing the affected degraded soils. The method of the present invention can be adopted to reclaim saline and alkaline soils. Besides improving physical properties of soil it also enhances availability of nutrients present in soil. Plants grown on such soil show higher growth and are resistance to pest and disease attack. In addition being a source of organic matter it also stimulates the biotic activity of the soil. The method is cost efficient and well suited for ameliorating soil on a large scale commercial basis.
