The invention relates to a biological process for enhanced hydrogen and methane production. The invention particularly is related to a process for enhanced hydrogen and methane production by fermentative hydrogen producers and methanogens immobilized on lignocellulosic wastes. The main utility of invention is to provide an effective method to overcome the problem of process instability during operation of biological hydrogen production and methanogenesis. The invention makes use of fermentative hydrogen producers and methanogens immobilized separately on lignocellulosic wastes to improve hydrogen production and methanogenesis process and operate it in a continuous manner.
