IN326904: Process for the rapid synthesis of high voltage/high capacity layered cathode material for lithium ion batteries
A layered cathode material LiCuxCo1-xO2 (0.01?x?0.2) was synthesized by microwave heating method with short reaction time without involving any calcination step. Electrochemical cycling studies were carried out between 2.7-4.6V using 1M LiPF6 in 1:1 ethylene carbonate (EC)/ diethylene carbonate (DEC) as electrolyte. The charge/discharge cycling studies of layered material with Cu doping exhibit an average specific discharge capacity of 150 mAh/g at 0.2 C rate over the investigated 50 cycles.
