IN381959: An antimicrobial agent and process for the preparation thereof

A process has been developed for decontamination of several microbes in paint (water/solvent based). Several gram positive Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, gram negative E. coil, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia marcescens, Salmonella typhimurium, Proteus hauseri and fungus namely Aspergillus Trichoderma, Fusarium etc. The proposed metal peroxide inhibits the growth of several microbes (53-88% water based; 29-80% solvent based), while being used in paint. The process will increase the life of paint, and will be helpful to protect spread of nosocomial infections in human being. These microbes grow on moist area and enter in human being and cause several infections. The proposed metal peroxide material can be used in the same way for decontamination of microbes in cement, wall putty, water, vegetables, pulses, grains, cosmetic items and as antifouling agent. The materials can also be used as antifouling agent on surfaces of floating vessels in water like ships, boats etc in order to slow the growth of organisms.
