Cycle rickshaws are driven fully by manual power, which is a very strenuous job for drivers. Keeping this in mind, the introduction of motor assisted pedicab has been thought to be a wise prerogative with inclusion of above speed override mechanism. The invention is a three-wheeled pedicab, rear wheels are driven by manual pedalling and front wheel is driven by Brass Less DC (BLDC) electric hub motor. The BLDC hub motor has been mounted at the center of front wheels directly, similar to hub of wheel, which has simplified the mounting and maintenance of motor. The speed override mechanism has been used at the center of rear axle; result in proper turning and better dynamic stability of the vehicle. Electric motor is powered by 36V, 18AH lead acid battery source. The battery can be charged from solar power and conventional electric power. This pedicab can be driven by manual pedalling or by BLDC motor, or in combination of both, i.e. it optimises the use of manual power and electric power.
