IN333254: Star telechelic poly lactic acid ionomers and process for synthesis thereof
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a promising material on account of its biodegradability and biorenewablity. However, its poor melt elasticity and low transition temperature limit its applicability. Thus, there is a need to improve these properties. Star telechelic ionomers of PLA with no restriction on the number of ions incorporated in the ionomers are provided. The ionomers disclosed possess improved elastic modulus and are prepared from easily available substrates employing a simple process.
