Major Achievements

A not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an interface agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs.

• BIRAC through its flagship programme BioNEST has created 20 world-class bio-incubators with 2,00,000 Sq ft of incubation space which provide multitude of support from office space to access to top end instrumentation & mentor networks.


• 65 individuals have been incorporated as start-ups during BIG support.


• 35 students were awarded BIRAC-SRISTI GYTI awards of Rs. 15 lakh each 50 new products/technologies have been developed
