22 mn farmers benefiting from Agro-meteorological Advisory Services
About
The Ministry in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) provides the Agromet Advisory Services (AAS) for the benefit of farmers. Farmers make use of these services for planning the operations like sowing, irrigation, application of fertilizer and pesticide, harvest and protection of crops from weather disasters. Currently, about 22 million farmers are receiving crop specific agro-meteorological advisories in vernacular languages. We plan to establish a District Agro-Meteorological Field Units in all the districts of the country by March 2019 and reach to 80% of the estimated 94 million farmers. These services will help in realizing the Honourable PM’s initiative in doubling the farmers income.
