National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS) is a premier institute in India that has strong linkages to researches and studies related to the Earth System. The major two areas are Earth System Dynamics and Earth Science Applications. Objectives 1. Promote and establish modern scientific and technological research and development studies of importance to India and to Kerala in particular, in the field of Earth Sciences 2. Carry out field surveys and laboratory research of academic and economic significance in Earth Science related field 3. Carry out studies in river basin evaluation, ground water management, coastal erosion, natural disaster management and mitigations and other special problems 4. Carry out promotional studies in the field of mineral development and develop techniques and design tools for Earth Science Studies
