The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), established in 1990, is one of the youngest science academies of India. It owes its origin to the vision of late Dr. B. P. Pal, the famous agricultural scientist and Padma Vibhushan awardee. The academy focuses on the broad field of agricultural and allied sciences including crop husbandry, animal husbandry, fisheries, agro-forestry, agro-industry, environment and nutrition. NAAS provides a forum to the agricultural scientific community to deliberate on important issues of agricultural research, education and extension and present views as policy inputs to planners and decision/opinion makers. Academy organizes and supports national and international congresses, conferences, seminars, workshops and brainstorming sessions on critical issues in the field of agricultural sciences. The Academy encourages cutting edge research in different fields of agricultural sciences and accords recognition to scientists towards promoting excellence
