The Indian National Science Academy (INSA) was established in January 1935 with the objective of promoting science in India and harnessing scientific knowledge for the cause of humanity and national welfare. The foundation of the academy was the outcome of joint endeavors of several organizations and individuals, with the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) playing a leading role. INSA coordinates among scientific academies, societies, institutions, government scientific departments etc. and acts as an apex body of scientists of eminence. It works toward safeguarding and promoting the interests of scientists in India and to present internationally the scientific work done in India. It engages in publishing journals, organizing scientific discussions and bringing out proceedings and monographs. Academy also endeavors to secure and manage funds and endowments for the promotion of science
