The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) was founded in 1930. Its objectives are cultivation and promotion of science and technology in all its branches, and providing a national forum for the exchange of views and publication of research work carried out by Indian scientists. Academy is financially supported by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India and it is also recognized as the Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Department for Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India. The academy publishes proceedings, journals, memoirs, transactions and other works as deemed important. NASI is actively involved in organizing meetings and discussions on scientific and technological problems, as well as undertaking several science-society programs. It also organizes a science library. In recognition of the outstanding scientific contributions of the scientists, NASI also presents prestigious fellowships and awards
