Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy (BASE) Fellowship Program

About

Recognizing that clean and efficient energy, environmental protection and energy security are among the biggest challenges facing India and the United States, DST through its Solar Energy Research Initiative and IUSSTF are committed to tackling these issues. To nurture future innovators and thought leaders in Solar Energy, this dynamic and transformative program has been developed to foster contacts between students and scientists of India and USA. The Program envisages promoting research and capacity building in the frontline area of Solar Energy. It provides opportunities to the best and brightest Indian students and scientists to gain exposure and access to world class research facilities in leading US institutions. It also paves the way for the next generation scientists and technologists from India to interact with American peers, thus helping to build long-term R&D linkages and collaborations.

For Student Internships, Indian citizens currently pursuing a Ph.D. on full time basis in the field of Solar Energy at a recognized institution of higher education and learning in India are eligible to apply. Age limit is up to 32 years. For BASE Fellowships, Indian citizens having Ph.D with considerable research background and experience in the area of Solar Energy and holding a permanent position in public-funded R&D lab/ S&T institution (non-private) / recognized university /college in India are eligible to apply. Applicants must be pursuing independent research and should have published in high-impact academic journals. Age limit is up to 40 years. Internship is provided for 3 - 6 months while Fellowships for 3 - 12 months. Fellowship/Internship includes Monthly Stipend, Return Air fare, Contingency Allowance etc.

Eligibility Criteria

For Fellowships: 1. Indian citizens with a Ph.D. in Science, Engineering or Technology. 2. Applicants must provide proof of independent research work in internationally recognized academic journals. 3. Open only to applicants working in the field of Solar Energy 4. Age: Upto 40 years as on 31 December of the year in which the call is made. 5. A regular position in a public-funded R&D Laboratory/S&T institution/recognized academic institute (University/College) in India.
