PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child (SGC)

About

The Govt. of India declared elementary education as a basic human right of every child. The Central Govt. has taken various steps to uplift the status of women by implementing various schemes including free education for girls. This scheme is especially for those girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family. In order to achieve and promote girls education, this scheme endeavours to compensate direct costs of girl education by supporting their post graduate education in non-professional courses. The program aims at promoting girls and their education in the society, boosting increased sex ratio in favour of women and small family norm. Eligibility: i) Single Girl Child i.e. Girl students without having any brother or those who are twin daughters/ fraternal daughter may apply under this scheme. ii) Girl students up to the age of 30 yrs at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible. iii) The scheme is applicable to such single girl child who has taken admission in regular, fulltime first year Masters Degree course in any recognised university or a post graduate college. This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only. Fellowship amount: Rs.3100 p.m is provided for a period of 2 yrs (10 months in the year) i.e. full duration of a PG course.

Eligibility Criteria

1. A single girl kid who has enrolled in a regular, full-time first-year master's degree program at any accredited institution or postgraduate college is eligible for the program. 2. Only PG-I year students are eligible for this grant. The program does not include admission to postgraduate courses via distance learning. 3. Age: Female students may enrol in postgraduate studies up to the age of thirty.
