This special scheme has been introduced with the objective of promoting girls and their education in the society, thereby providing a boost to increased sex ratio in favour of women and small family norm. SVSGC aims to compensate direct costs of higher education especially for such girls who happen to be the only child in their family. Applications are invited through online mode once a year. The fellowship is awarded on the basis of recommendation of the Expert Committee.Eligibility: Girls who happen to be the only child in their family and are pursuing Ph.D. in Social Sciences in Universities / Colleges / Institutes. Twin daughters / fraternal daughter can also apply. Fellowship amount: Rs.25000 p.m. for initial 2 yrs; subsequently Rs.28000 p.m. plus House Rent Allowance as per norms and Contingency grant of Rs.10000 p.a. for initial two years and thereafter Rs.20500 p.a. is given. : Fellowship will be granted upto the date of submission of Ph.D or 5 yrs, whichever earlier.

1. Any single girl child of her parents. 2. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme. 3. The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full -time Ph. D. program in Social Sciences in any recognized University/Institute. Admission to Ph.D. Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.
