Project Overview
Analysed 473 patients who attended the neurological services evidence of brucellosis by applying serological methods and PCR. Out of 473 cases, 50 (10.5%) cases showed evidence of brucellosis in serum and or CSF. Seroprevalence among the patients attending neurological services was 25.79%. Seroprevalence among high risk group individuals, blood donors and fever cases was 24%, 29.2% and 29% respectively. In conclusions the occurrence of neurobrucellosis is 10.5% and overall seroprevalence of Brucellosis in the community is 27.29%. High index of suspicion and multimodal approach is essential in the diagnosis of brucellosis especially neurobrucellosis.
