Project Overview

Born series methods are computationally intensive and require efficient frameworks to estimate photoacoustic field distribution in large computational domains. In highly acoustically heterogeneous mediums, multiple scattering of acoustic waves can significantly modify the PA field distribution. No method exists to estimate the distribution inside such mediums. This project aims to address this issue by incorporating parallel and graphics processing unit-based computation techniques. This study is of fundamental interest and may have applications in biomedical fields like ultrasonics and optics.
