Project Overview

This proposal aims to synthesize and study novel 1-D nanorod/nanowires (NR/NWs) and 3-D composite quantum dots for various photovoltaic and photoelectric devices. The research aims to minimize thermalization losses and improve photovoltaic and photoelectric performance by modifying the spectrum using spectral DC and QC 1-D NR/NWs and 3-D nanocomposites. The proposed 1-D NR/NWs and 3-D composite DC nanomaterials will exhibit a large absorption range and wide bandgap nature for absorbing lower wavelength lights, with strong DC and QC visible and near-infrared NIR photoluminescence emission. The goal is to achieve a high quantum yield for spectral DC and 200 for spectral QC. The findings will aid in designing high-efficiency photovoltaic and photocatalytic cells and high-performance nano- and opto-electric sensors for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Indore) and Meiji University have been conducting research exchanges since 2018 to study nanomaterials and their applications in energy and sensing devices. The collaboration aims to accelerate research on fabrication, analysis, and application of various nanomaterials. The research will focus on fabrication of semiconducting/insulating nanorods and nanowires, structural, optical, electronic, and electrical properties, and integration of spectral DC and QC nanomaterials.
