Project Overview

The proposed research project focuses on the discovery of dark energy (DE) in the Universe, which is causing an accelerated expansion on large scales. The precise nature of DE remains unknown, and various observational DE surveys are ongoing to resolve this issue. As a result, data related to Type Ia supernovae, Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations, Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, and large-scale structures are being gathered. In the near future, it is expected that these data will help pin point the precise nature of DE in cosmic acceleration. The DE model building and observational constraints have gained special importance in cosmology. The Planck collaboration studies observational constraints using various data sets on the simplest DE model, the $\Lambda$CDM (cosmological constant + cold dark matter) model. The proposed project aims to study observational constraints on dynamical DE models developed by the researcher and collaborators based on cosmic time parametrization schemes of deceleration parameter and equation of state (EoS) of DE. The project will mainly construct DE models in curvature-less and torsion-less modified theories, known as symmetric teleparallel theories. The project aims to reveal new insights and features of dynamical DE models in light of constraints from the latest observational data from various DE surveys. It also aims to train a Junior Research Fellow in the essentials of the field with working knowledge of computation and encourages them to pursue a Ph.D.
