Project Overview
The Indian Civilization has a rich history of ethno-botany, focusing on the connections between plants and humans. Traditional medicines like snakebites have been used for centuries without proper research. Ethno-botanical research can preserve indigenous people's cultural legacy and advance the development of new plant-based drugs. A project proposal aims to conduct a deep field survey on the heritage use of Indian medicinal plants for snake bite treatment, focusing on plant inhibition of local snake envenomation. This could raise awareness of the Indian medical system and potentially lead to new treatments for deadly diseases like cancer.
