Project Overview
The projects under the Group IV of Phase-I, had important leads both at AAU and TNAU. The project led to development of improved black rice and aromatic Keteki Joha lines introgressed with BB-resistant genes: xa5, xa13 and Xa21 at AAU. At TNAU, 3 drought QTLs viz., qDTY1.1, qDTY2.1, and qDTY6.1 were introgressed into the BR cultivar Chakhaoamubi through MABC. These outputs need to be ramped up for the development of final products. Thus, with recommendation from DBT the current proposal has been developed to carry forward Phase -I with additional work on their value addition to Phase II with following four sub projects
I. Development of Bacterial Blight resistant high yielding aromatic BR line
II. Validation, Multi-location and AICRIP Evaluation, release of BB introgressed Keteki Joha
III. Pyramiding genes for drought, BB and Blast resistance in improved BR line
IV. Development of value-added products from improved Chakhao varieties of Assam
Achievements
Introgression of blast and bacterial blight genes are being done in genetic background of Chakhao Amubi and Improved White ponni through b\marker assisted back cross breeding.
