Project Overview

This project aims to investigate the biaxial behavior of delaminated glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites under pure in-plane loading using an automated failure monitoring system. The project will explore the effects of delamination size, orientation, and location on the failure behavior of GFRP composites under biaxial loading. Additionally, the project will integrate virtual reality technology to provide an immersive and interactive experience for analyzing and visualizing the test results. The outcomes of this project are expected to enhance the understanding of the mechanical behavior of delaminated GFRP composites and provide valuable insights for the design and optimization of GFRP structures. The methodology adopted for the project includes experimental testing of GFRP composite specimens with and without delamination under pure in-plane loading conditions using an automated failure monitoring system. The data obtained from the experiments will be analyzed to establish a correlation between the mechanical properties and failure characteristics of the material. The expected outputs of the project include a comprehensive database of mechanical properties and failure characteristics of GFRP composites under biaxial loading conditions, a correlation model between the mechanical properties and failure characteristics, and insights into the effect of delamination on the behavior of GFRP composites. The proposed research has the potential to significantly contribute to the advancement of composite materials science and engineering, and it is expected to be a valuable resource for researchers and engineers working in the field of composite structures. The outcomes of the project can be utilized for the design and development of more efficient and reliable composite structures used in various applications. This research can be used in numerous settings, including the automotive, aerospace, and marine industries, to improve the design and construction of composite structures. Engineers can use the project's findings to design composite structures that are more effective and durable by taking delamination's impact on material behavior into account.
