Project Overview
COVID-19 situations have created huge effects on the psycho-social conditions of people. Although, some countries have managed the community spreads of those pandemic, the risks related to psychological and social conditions of people remain less explored in literature (Bai et al., 2020). Risk detection, analysis, and prediction appear to be a topic of great interest during pandemics, considering infections and mortalities, but not pertaining to the psychological or social conditions of people (Dumm et al., 2020). Several scholarly works are published in the direction of estimation of the risks of infection and risk in treatment protocols, considering several alternative medicines (Chen et al., 2020). However, the psycho-social risks associated with it have been less investigated in literature. The psycho-social behaviour of people has been highly influenced during this pandemic and the fear of infection and the related situations has intensified stress and various other psycho-social ailments among people (Banerjee and Rai, 2020). We aim in this project to study the psycho social conditions of people during the COVID-19 pandemic taking the state of Kerala, India as a representative case. Kerala is taken as a case as it is the first states in India reported the first case of COVID-19 infection and later on has increasing number of cases and then have a control over the number of infections. Later on, during the second wave of the pandemic, the state was badly hit. Radically, there was a peak in the number of infections in the months of January, February, and March 2021. The Kerala government has reported all the psycho-social conditions of people right from the stat of COVID-19. The secondary data regarding the patients approached for different psycho-social conditions of distress in different districts of the state are available from the COVID-19 dashboard of Kerala Government, which was updated on a daily basis. Also, through this project, we aim to collect the primary data on various psycho-social conditions reported in the 5 major medical colleges of the State (Kozhikode, Trissur, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Thiruvananthapuram) and make incidence analysis using both primary and secondary data sources to understand the psycho-social conditions during distress and its relations and effects during the pandemics, with special reference to the COVID-19 situations in India.
