Project Overview

Dearomatization of abundant arenes is considered to be the shortest and most powerful approach towards the goalThe reason being Phenols may be used as the best substrates in Enantioselective Oxidative dearomatisation reactions (EDRs) to generate molecules have three dimensional architectures. This not only conquers an economic wayout to molecular complexity but also designates it an ultimate goal of achieving anti-thermodynamic aromatic C-H activation. This resembles a versatile transformation that has been considered an an attractive and straightforward method for the construction of a range of molecular architectures from simple planar starting materials.The main advantage being the possibility of converting an aromatic ring into a three dimensional molecule generating multiple chiral centres in one shot, creating an aromatic C─H activation at the expense of aromatic energy. This not only fulfills the well judged target of atom-economy but also empowers the scientific community to see through above thermodynamic stability. The present project targets two such approaches employing Photocatalysed Dearomatisations and Cycloaaditions to generate 3D Chemical spaces from simple electronically deficient 2D-heteroarenes. The Project also focusses on more environmentally benign NIR radiation to synthesis these 3D Chemical spaces
