Project Overview
In this project, we aim to systematically investigate how realistic environmental factors affect gravitational-wave signals from compact binaries during both the inspiral and ringdown stages. We will develop theoretical models that incorporate dynamical friction, CoM acceleration, induced eccentricity, and dark matter induced effects into the waveform models. This investigation will not only improve the parameter estimation of the merger events but also provide a unique opportunity to get a better understanding of the environment itself. The study of the post-merger phase would complement the inspiral phase analysis, as this would provide an opportunity to test GR and other astrophysical properties around an unstable object, which might provide new insights regarding gravity in the strong field regime and the astrophysical processing at these levels.
