Project Overview
The scenario of energy across the globe had increased rapidly over the last thirty to forty years span. The renewable energy sources need an energy converter e.g. solar energy needs DC to AC converters. However, the amplitude of the generated power is for less as against that required to directly supply various loads. Even in the grid connected solar system, the amplitude of the solar supply through converter system should be suitable for the grid to obtain proper operation and utilization of the renewable energy source. For these problem, new innovative solution is required with the rigorous modification in the DC to AC converter section for matching with the load/utility side voltage. Also, Inverter should have capability to step up voltage from the low voltage renewable energy source with the high efficiency, less cost i.e. by reducing the number of components. This project proposal concentrates on the use of SST with the Multilevel inverters (MLIs) with the SiC/GaN devices which yield an innovation solation to overcome the mentioned drawbacks of converter technology. In this proposal, the SiC/Gan will be used to reduce the size of inverters as they yield high-density and high-efficient solution. Also for isolation purpose, the high-frequency transformer will be incorporated in the newly designed topology. Further, along with the wide band gap devices, feature to generate less total harmonic distortion (THD) according to IEEE-519 standard shall be incorporated. As well as, fault tolerant techniques for the inverter will be implemented. Further, the developed inverter will be tested in the field after the testing of prototype in the laboratory.
