Project Overview

Developing advanced control algorithms to ensure smooth transitions between grid-forming and grid-following modes is a novel aspect of this work. Current systems often find it difficult to maintain stability and synchronization during such transitions, and addressing these challenges is the goal of this research. This work presents a novel dynamic switching logic that can identify grid faults and immediately switch one inverter to grid-forming mode while maintaining the other in grid-following mode. The degree of automation and responsiveness outlined here is essential for ensuring stability in microgrids. The study investigates the coordinated control of two parallel inverters that have different functions during both normal and fault conditions. This entails intricate interplays and coordination, which have received limited attention in existing research. Energy Storage Utilization: Energy storage utilization involves integrating energy storage with the PV system and developing control algorithms that effectively use stored energy to maintain system stability during transitions. This is a unique and innovative contribution. The project focuses on achieving equilibrium in PV parallel systems and effectively controlling the state-of-charge (SOC) of Energy storage and EV battery in various dynamic operating modes.
