Project Overview
This project aims to advance the design and application of piezoelectric composites and mechanical metamaterials in energy harvesting, actuation, and vibration control. By integrating a multiscale modeling approach, we seek to develop piezoelectric composites with accurately predicted electromechanical properties, enabling efficient and versatile use. A novel mechanical metamaterial-based piezoelectric vibration energy harvester (PVEH) will be designed, optimized, and characterized to provide a sustainable energy source for low-power devices. Machine learning models will support rapid and precise performance predictions for the PVEH, reducing the need for extensive physical testing. Furthermore, the project will create a unique piezo-metamaterial actuator with enhanced actuation capabilities, facilitating precise control in various applications. Finally, we will implement vibration control strategies within composite structures using the piezo-metamaterial actuators, effectively reducing resonance and improving structural stability. The outcomes are expected to enhance energy efficiency, precision actuation, and vibration mitigation, with broad implications for robotics, aerospace, and sustainable energy systems.
